Figs With Goat Cheese and Honey
Fresh black mission figs
Soft goat cheese (Non flavored)
Creamed honey (Trader Joe's)
The three amigos! |
Fresh figs. If you haven't ever had them before, you're in for something unexpected. They are different than dried figs for sure. Delicate, light, more fruity and less pruney.
Lovely purple. Soft and sweet. |
This isn't very hard to do at all. Slice a fig in half. Add a bit of goat cheese.
Looks like two hearts. |
Drizzle with creamed honey. I like the flavor of creamed honey with these because it's softer to me. But you can use regular honey and it will be just as fine.
Seemingly fancy, yet simple. |
Pop in mouth. Chew and smile. Nice with a crisp white wine.
The other option to tweak it is use blue cheese instead of goat and add prosciutto.
Sliced paper thin by the deli person when you give them specific instructions. |
Add a little bundle of it on top.
Nearly the same idea as before, with two small updates. |
You can stop there and enjoy, or add honey that once again ties it all together with a lovely layer of sweetness.
It may sound weird, but it works. |
Unusual combinations can be delightful. You can't dismiss something until you try it. The most bizarre combinations I've been introduced to in recent years have brought to me some of the most fantastic taste treats. Glad I was daring enough to try them.
